Attendance Policy
Attendance Policy
Schools are required by law to keep exact records of reasons for absences, e.g., illness, bad weather, and appointments. If your child must be absent, please call the front office before 9:00 a.m. with the following information:
-
Child's first and last name
-
Teacher and Grade level
-
Reason for absence
-
Request for missed homework
-
Your name and relationship to the child
Unexcused absences will be reported as required by state law.
Extended Absences
If you know your child will be absent for an extended period of time, instead of calling every day, you may send a note to the office with the date(s) your child will be out, teacher/grade, and reason for the absence.
Tardies
Students have the responsibility of being at school on time. Late students must stop by the office to obtain an admit slip before attending class. Excessive absences/tardies will result in appropriate consequences.
Closed Campus
Students must stay at school throughout the day unless they have a written request from their parents. Requests must be approved by the principal. The principal has discretion in granting permission to leave campus for lunch. Even with principal permission granted, students must check out and in through the office if they leave campus during the school day.
Withdrawing Students
Parents or guardians are required to sign a withdrawal form when students plan to change schools. At the time of withdrawal, all school materials must be returned, including textbooks and library books, and any outstanding bills must be paid. Student records will be forwarded to the new school.
